A TV show about Julian Beever was scheduled for last night but for some reason they were featuring a group of young Massachusetts men who build custom drum kits for popular bands instead. When it became apparent that the show I wanted wasn't happening, I called up the images of forsythia I'd been storing in my brain this week, and created this on the iPad.
I picked this one out of the "finish later" bin. Something made me start this little oil painting a while ago, and it still called out to me. I've made a lot of adjustments and am in the process of adding some glazes. Still liking it enough not to put it back in the bin.
I don't usually work in oil pastels, because I find them somewhat uncooperative. I'm learning to teach them who's boss though. This 12 x 12 work in progress is a submission for Casey Klahn's "Paint the Barn in Winter" Facebook group. Every month, Casey posts a photograph and artists are invited to interpret it in whatever medium they choose. I'll be working more on this one, but here's a start.
