This is is far as I've gotten with this series. There will be more! December has historically been a slow month in the studio due to holidays and birthdays.

Down to the Lake
Oil on paper
8 x 10
I've been working on a series of 8 x 10 oils on prepared paper. Mainly these small works are from recent walks in or near wooded areas. Fall weather changes the look of the wooded landscape every day, as wind, rain and animals do their Fall thing. Here's one from the series.
This rocky view on the coast of Rhode Island continues to fascinate, even as the house and grounds endure more and more battering from salt and wind. Apparently, things will get worse (better, if you love a wild ocean). I look forward to late Fall's display but in the meantime, here's one from a few weeks ago.
Rocks at Newport #2

As summer in New England begins its exit, there's even more incentive to spend time at the ocean's edge. Visiting a friend's seaside cottage gave me the opportunity to endlessly gaze at the waves crashing against the rocks.
Here is one in a series.

A few weeks ago I visited the Salisbury Beach State Reservation. Though the beach is wonderful and I have a parking pass, my choice of things to observe included a marshy area unpopulated by any humans (plenty of ticks though). This may or may not be quite finished. Enjoy!
I've visited the Salt River in Arizona a few times, with my sister.
I love the beauty of the desert and the things that grow there. Here's a new one from a family trip two years ago.
Oil on wood, 8 x 10

Spring is here and I am making plans to visit several different bodies of water this Summer. Here's a painting from last summer, when we (safely) tooled around Newport Harbor with friends.

Winters are long and cold here in New England. I made a slew of winter-themed paintings before thinking "enough already".
The days are growing longer, the sun is higher and stronger, and the promise of Spring awaits.
Enjoy "A Brighter Day"!

I'm all for a snowless winter, but I'd like to try out the snowshoes I got for Christmas in 2019! After that, not enough of the white stuff has fallen for me to try out this new method of propelling oneself through the woods and fields of Massachusetts.
As an alternative, I've envisioned a few snowy scenes and made an effort to turn these dreams into oil paintings. Small, but honest. This one is 8 x 10, oil on wood panel, ready to frame or not. It's affordable, and I'll pay the MA Sales Tax!
I haven't posted in a while, but now that the holidays are behind us I hope there'll be more time for reflection and painting. Here's an 8 x 10, done in the studio on my birthday two weeks ago.
