A Pastel and a Departure

Several weeks ago I heard Tuscany calling me again. Not able to travel there at this time, I went to the easel instead, and made a few paintings. Here's one that's generated a lot of comments. In a way, it's informed by my love for illustration — but it was also very liberating to just let the painting paint itself!
